To the Stars Through Difficulties by Romalyn Tilghman

3.0

I have been toying with how I wanted to word my review. The story itself is charming. I enjoyed how the author seemed to highlight the strength of women and community while simultaneously allowing the characters to have their own individual strengths. I also loved the historical references to the libraries built by Carnegie and the impact those had, and continue to have, on communities. However, I felt the chapters were to short and somewhat choppy. There were times I was unsure why a relationship between characters developed the way it did. Overall the book is a good debut and I'm intrigued to see what Tilghman will give us next.
