The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick
3.0

It was not what I expected
I was expecting some fictional alternate world war II war story, but if that is what you are looking for, you will be disappointed. Mine was especially difficult to read because of the shifting between characters and situations, without any headings in between.
The story is, for me, more a fictional social study of a society as it could have been. If we lost the war. Written through the eyes of different parties covering various angles. The complexity of Japanese manners and protocols is meticulously described. The story drops you right in the middle of events unfolding. You are more a spectator from a distance to the events than following them up close.
But after turning the last page, I can say it is quit an interesting book with extra ordinary characters who could have been you and me. But I’m still not sure if I enjoyed the book, but it gave me a new perspective to our modern day society.
