Long Shot
by Kennedy Ryan
“I’d play you at the five” that scene and quote my gosh
Oh boy this book!!! This was a book club pick for @madskait book club and I had not heard to much about it prior to that but was intrigued. Going into this, I knew it was going to be a heavy read and would definitely have me feeling lots of emotions.
From the first chapter of this book, I felt immediately invested in the story and already found myself feeling attached to the characters, August and Iris. The way the had such good chemistry right off the bat 🤌🏻. The thing I also enjoyed in their first meeting is that it was like an insta-love/ lust type of situation. There was obviously an attraction but it was mainly an emotional connection that you could see developing between.
Throughout this book, we are seeing the truth about Iris’s relationship with Caleb (her boyfriend at the time, not the mmc) and that behind closed doors, it isn’t what everyone thinks. These parts of the book were definitely very difficult to read and hear about but I feel as Kennedy Ryan did a good job handling it and taking time to do her research on these sensitive topics.
This book is such a strong, and impactful story about Iris trying to find herself again after going through so so much. She truly went through hell and back and we get to see her go through the steps of trying to piece her life back together. In doing so, she finds her way back to August and this man. He is so kind, patient, loving, and supportive. The way he loves so hard while also making sure Iris knows that she can take her time and he’ll be ready when she is 😩. This is a story that will stick with me for a long time and I’m so invested in this world now and can’t wait to keep reading this series!
