Nothing Like the Movies (Better Than The Movies Book 2)
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

"When I'm near you, the way I feel steals the breath from my body. It's like I breathe for you. like I exists to exist alongside of you. I know those feelings are probably too big and too scary and put way too much pressure on you, and I'm sorry for that. Truly. But it's the way I feel. The way I've always felt.”

Oh my goodness! It was so good to be back with some of my favorites, Liz and Wes. I read book one over a year ago, and I am so happy I finally was able to pick up book 2.

While I know many people were a little disappointed with this one, I actually really enjoyed it! It was such a beautiful look at what can come after a high school relationship after graduation. Things don't always go according to plan or happen like you hope, and this book does a wonderful job depicting that. While these characters have grown and changed, their "essence" was still true to their characters.

I will say that this book is one of the *slowest* burns I've ever read. But boy, was it worth it! These two are some of my favorites together, and I love that no matter how different they became they just fell back into step with each other adapting with the changes.

Wesley's journey broke my heart. I was so sad for him, but also felt so proud that he was still able to acheive his dreams. His never-give-up attitude in this book was admirable. And he had me swooning all over again. Liz's evolution of character was immense, but man did she pull herself up by the bootstraps and tackle the heck out of life. The fact she that was determined to be different and reach her goals. Bravo! But mostly I am proud she realized, that while she had changed and become stronger, she still was somewhat the same underneath and that was ok. It was ok to let people back in and show a softer more vulnearble side.

I'm so glad Lynn gave us this HEA story after their HEA. This series will forever stay in my heart.

“In your dreams, Bennett,” she teased.
“Every damn night, Buxbaum,”
