On a Midsummer Night by Liana De la Rosa

4.0

After absolutely adoring The Captain's Midwinter Bride, I was eager to learn about Phillip and Annaliese's daughter Beth, and this did not disappoint! I adored Beth and loved seeing how she interacted with her family, especially with her cousin Lucy and her brother Oliver. I always like it when there is love evident in family dynamics and there was so much love for her.

As for Henry, it took me a while to warm up to him. I just didn't really like his reason for leaving Beth but eventually, I came around to like him and I liked how he treated Beth as well. The other gripe I have is that sometimes the dialogue was used as character descriptors which felt odd. Like people don't describe the people around them if they aren't directly asked. I don't know how to explain it; it just felt off somehow.

I don't know if De la Rosa has plans for continuing this series but I desperately hope so! I would love to see a story about Oliver or even Lucy! I adore the Daltons and would read about them just hanging out honestly.
