The Sinful King by Claire Contreras
2.0

I’ll give this like a 2.75. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it by any means. This book was a nice easy fun read but it by no means was quality. I loved the trope and of it was actually excuted correctly would’ve been amazing. Everything was just so fast paced and they were in love before they ever had real conversations. Also they went against so many royal rules and just had no consequences for anything. Like they would kiss and joke and everything in public and everyone was just okay with it? Like there was no real conflict it just seems like a dream world instead of the truths/hardships of royalty. Like in what world would they brush over the fact that the future queen had a full on sex tape scandal- like the whole world can see the future queens vagina but okay. I did enjoy how obsessed prince Elias was from the beginning though. I love this trope so I wish I loved this

Spoiler summary:
When she is 18 Adeline attends a masquerade ball and has a magical one night stand/virginity loss to random beautiful man who she realizes on her flight home was the future king of France. She travels back to that small town because she needs to get away from a sex tape scandal with her ex and is being shunned. She had to deliver baskets to the prince cuz of her uncle and the guard flirts with her and they go on a date that Elias crashes. He remembers her but she doesn’t think he does but he’s instantly hooked and goes from grumpy to chasing her. He has to be engaged to a princess but then after a while just makes a fake plan that dating a commoner would help his image even tho he just wants it to date Addie. Also her dad hates the royals and is a cabinet member against them. Then they fall in love and he cuts out the engagement with the princess for Addie and everyone’s just okay with it. Anyways she ends up queen lol

Things I liked:

He crashes her date with his security guard/friend the second day after seeing her again (already obsessed and jealous)

Even went to her bookstore two days in a row because she wasn’t there the first day

He’s a little grumpy to her in the beginning because she’s frustrated about her dating the security/friend. But I think he has a talk with him to kind of tell him she’s off-limits, because in the friend isn’t as flirty

Found out his dad died and went straight to addies drunk

Setting up book number two by saying Aramis has been in love with Joss and she just doesn’t see it

“You don’t curtsy to me,” he said into my ear.
“Are you not my King?”
“Are you not my world?”

Always told that they can’t have pda and he can’t bow to her but he breaks both saying “fuck tradition”
