caitywc 's review for:
Someone Else's Shoes
by Jojo Moyes
I don’t write reviews often but ugh. 2.5.
I love reading imperfect, flawed characters. Heck, I even like an unlikable character here and there. But these characters were SO MISERABLY UNLIKABLE this was so hard to read!!! Sam is ridiculously negative and frankly, dumb. She can’t read a room to save her life and it’s painful to read. Nisha is one-dimensional and predictable. And didn’t even show that much growth to be honest. It dragged on and was the absolute opposite of “hard to put down”. I actually felt myself needing to take a break from the obnoxious, predictable characters and their constant run-around goose-chases.
This is a sad review to write because I LOVE Jojo Moyes and I was so excited to read this book but it is far from her best work, and felt a little phoned-in. What a bummer.
Extra star for those beautiful shining Steinbeckian Jojo Moyes wisdom nuggets. She really is a star, even in a bummer book.
