Maybe I have high standards when it comes to teen/YA literature, but I found this not only unbelievable but very John Green-esque (and not even in a good way!). The characters were, for the most part, unlikeable, including the main protagonist. It's clear she suffers from acute depression, but even the author tells her to get over it.
She's saved from contemplating suicide by a boy she likes -- or excuse me, loves, because we are in high school
. There are no adults in the story at all in any meaningful way. All of the main characters also suffer from just straight-up alcoholism which is never addressed. My best way to describe this is fanfiction of Euphoria and Looking for Alaska, but none of the characters are likable or even relatable.
