The Art of Avoiding Your Alpha by Lola Glass
3.0
Second book in the Wildwood series about blood wolves. This story was another story that was light, fun, a bit sexy, and easy to follow. It was so very much like the first one.
There was minimal conflict to follow along with, which is great in a light audiobook like this one, but I was looking for a bit more. The most that we got was a vampire clan in town that ended up being run out immediately, with no on page drama.
Even with the fact that Tori has a stronger scent than the other Blood Wolves, which should cause trouble, there really wasn't much development in that regard. Admittedly, there was one tiny scene where she was in a bar & a vampire sat next to her. He was disbelieving about her stance on having a mate already, but it didn't last long because Vex showed up. I was excited for this to play out much differently.
Our MMC, Vex, was just as possessive of an Alpha as Madd's was in book one. He legit hauled her over his shoulder & removed her from someplace at the beginning. That was kinda funny. Her basically said, "I am your mate, and there is nothing you can do about it." This also played out a few times in the bedroom, and it was kinda hot.
Tori was a bit submissive if you asked me. She wanted to be independent, she worked long hours to make her own money, and she had her own place, but Vex didn't let her keep that sole independence for long. They moved in together & she eventually cut back her hours. That's not negative. Finding a level of independence while also knowing your mate is in your corner is #GOALS.
Overall, I did enjoy this story. It was a tad bit underdeveloped, in my opinion.
