The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

5.0

Every single person needs to read this book.

Everything about it is thought-provoking and so so real. As someone that can never truly understand the hate that some people go through, this book hurt me so hard and it only gave me just a glimpse. I can never have enough words to explain the things this book made me feel, just that I think everyone needs to read it and try and imagine if this world was their life.

This book still surprised me too, the fact that Chris stayed there through it all, really made me happy that he wasn’t just made the bad guy because he was white. The fact that he stood up and protested and supported (tried to support best he could) Starr, shows that not everyone is inclined to act like the cop, and Hailey.

Starr is amazing and strong and so inspiring. The Carter family is strong and made me want to be a part of it even through the bad times. This book truly gave you a deeper look into how some people live their lives, and showed you that there is always more below the surface that everyone should make it a mission to be mindful of. And not just in similar circumstances, but everyone should always keep on their mind that people get treated differently all over the world, and people are always going through so much more then you could ever know.

This book moved me and I absolutely loved it.
