Surrounded by Idiots: The Four Types of Human Behavior and How to Effectively Communicate with Each in Business (and in Life) by Thomas Erikson

4.0

I really enjoyed this book and think it would help most people identify others and demystify collaboration (mind you, I’ve taken the Insights Discovery Profile Test at a previous job, and loved it then, too).

Unfortunately, the title is misleading (and unnecessarily negative) and the author takes a weird stance in using “he/him” in anecdotes, when frankly it seems like the perfect opportunity to use “they/them” when referring to a color GROUP.

Also, his analysis can get a little reductive & absolute, so the book could do with a little more reiteration that most folks are a limitless mix of certain color-driven traits (and, ahem… though mostly yellow & red, I do register blue & green as well, so tah-dah, I am the anomaly all-color person he claims does not exist).
