The Chalice of the Gods by Rick Riordan

5.0

This book was fantastic. Not only was it a great way to catch up with my favourite character, Percy Jackson, but Riordan also did a great job of making this almost like a refresher course for people going into the show. It has a lot of references to the rest of the series, especially the first book, and it kinda reminds you about the events that took place. So if you read the series years ago and don't feel up to rereading it in preparation for the show, you could just read this book and it'll be perfect.

That said, if you have no interest in the show whatsoever, this is still a great read. We get a (slightly) less stressful adventure with the OG trio. We meet some more gods, talk about how much the gods suck, spend time with Percy and Annabeth being happily in love and freaking adorable, spend time with Percy's mom and Paul, get a new quest, and just have a great time. Not to mention, it's been so long since we got a book from Percy's perspective. I missed him. I'm so happy with this book, and I highly recommend it to any fans of the series.
