soooo… this can’t be the same holly black that wrote the folk of the air trilogy, right? the author that kept me in a chokehold for three books straight couldn’t turn around and produce something so dull and lifeless could she? well apparently she could, and she did. book of night was disappointing on most fronts, and i would have DNFed this very early on if i hadn’t been reading this for a reading challenge. i even turned to the audiobook to help me get through this while doing other, more entertaining things, which is how i know for sure that this was a slog.
