Her Prodigal Passion by Grace Callaway

5.0

I think one of the most popular tropes in historical romance is, the wallflower and the rake. And while it’s been done dozens of times, there are very few that stand out to me as an excellent novel. This, however, is one of the best ones out there!

I have been racing through the Mayhem in Mayfair series to try and get to this book and boy I was not disappointed. The steam and passion from both the main characters is outstanding. Both characters are seen in previous books, so we already have an understanding about how much of a wallflower Charity is and Paul (Percy’s brother from Her Wanton Wager) is just an all-round pugilistic god. Seeing them come together for a marriage of convenience and battle with their own emotions is both heart wrenching at times but also heart-flutteringly glorious.

I always love how Callaway ‘shows’ us rather than ‘tells’ us how the characters are feeling, this to me is the mark of an excellent writer. I give this book 5 stars and cannot wait to read the next series which I believe is about Ambrose Kent’s siblings!
