AAAAA the first new book I've read in the Shadowhunter world and it really did not disappoint!! Is Simon the same annoying and oblivious narrator that we see in some of our least favorite TMI books and if he understood genuinely one thing about Izzy they wouldn't have every single disagreement in this book? Yes. But it was such a fun way to see the Shadowhunter world from such an outsider's perspective in the post-Sebastian era and set up for the next series, and also see Simon wrestling with reconciling who he was, who he thinks he was, and who he wants to be. But if you are prepared for this to be more of a low stakes interlude then check that assumption.
