I can only rate this four stars because the first half just seemed to move at a snail’s pace. But the second half? Amazing. Adorable. Sweet. Heartbreaking. All the things. I think this book could have benefited from being a little shorter because I think it still would have been effective. There are some discussions towards the end about abuse and dealing with abuse that were really well done but just know that going in if that is content you would rather avoid.

I just love a sports romance that has a lot of the sport in it and I think this author balances it perfectly. If I didn’t want to read about sports, I wouldn’t be picking up a sports romance. I love reading a book where the main characters are super passionate about something so being able to have a lot of stuff dealing with training and games really helps showcase that. Also reading a mm romance by a male author just hits different and I love to see it. This author always writes the softest male characters that I just want to hug.
