Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paige Toon

3.0

I thought that this started out as such a great slowburn, but unfortunately I was really disappointed with the way the book finished. I felt that it needed an additional 100+ pages to develop the conclusion. With the slow pace of 40 Chapters setting the stage with many deep rooted parts of the story, I expected there to be more work with the conclusion. Instead, it abruptly wrapped up at lightspeed on the final Chapter (41) plus the Epilogue; which I thought cut off the conclusion at it's knees. This story may work for many readers, but it just crammed way too many things with easy solutions in the final pages for me to feel happy with this story as a whole.

I also loved Bailey and Jonas (side characters), yet I found their conclusions to be a let down as well. I wished that Jonas didn't appear in the Epilogue in the way that he did. I would have appreciated reading a little Novella on him. And Bailey...I was so confused at the issues hinted at with Casey and then poof they were gone.

Overall, I was left wanting a great deal and am let down some.
