Out Behind the Barn by Chad Lutzke, John Boden
5.0
The story focuses on two young boys, Davey and Ronny, and their isolated life on a farm with Maggie. Those who come into their life don't seem to stay long and when someone new arrives , the cycle starts all over again.
This novella teeters between being horrifying and heartbreaking. It is told through the childlike perspectives of Davey and Ronny. I couldn't help but fall for these kids because their personalities are so pure. As the novella progresses, we start to understand that something isn't right as a series of sinister realizations bleed through the innocence.
I love this story.
