Twisted Hearts by Cora Reilly
4.0

Twisted Hearts is Book 5 in The Camorra Chronicles by author Cora Reilly. It can be read as a standalone, however there are characters who play major secondary roles within Twisted Hearts, so you may want to read the first 4 books. I read Twisted Hearts as a standalone, it did take me a chapter or two to understand the dynamics and who’s who of the characters, but once I did, Twisted Hearts was a compelling and addictive read.

There’s something forbidden and enticing about Mafia book series. The stories are so different from the everyday reality of most people’s life, it is exciting and addictive to read the dangerous mafia world. Twisted Hearts meets this criteria with Ms Reilly’s characters of Savio and Gemma, and in fact all of the Camorra Chronicles characters, they are brash and brutal, yet loving and generous in their own way. Gemma is the younger sister of Diego, who is friends with Savio - one of the siblings in the head family of the Las Vegas outfit. Gemma is off-limits to Savio due to her young age and immaturity and the major factor that she will be promised in marriage when she turns 16. As the time approaches, Gemma is not subtle in sending out hints that Savio is the only man she wants, but her traditional family and their age-old ways may not agree. Savio is not one to settle down at all, preferring the love em and leave em reputation he has earned.
I enjoyed Twisted Hearts, it is not a book for the faint-hearted or young of age, it has violence, swearing and is most definitely a steamy romance. There are, however some moments of sweetness and I enjoyed learning about the relationships of Savio’s brothers and their wives in parts of the book. Cora Reilly tells this story so well, her writing is easy to read and captures the imagination, I was definitely caught up in the Camorra Chronicles world. A 4 star read from me, with Twisted Hearts a book I would recommend to contemporary romance readers who enjoy Mafia series, I certainly will be reading more in this series and books by Cora Reilly.

I received an early copy of this book. All opinions are my own and this is an honest review.
