Cruel Promise by Nicole Fox

4.0

In Book 1, I downloaded Cruel Promise and carried on reading. This may be the first time that the second book in a Nicole Fox duology hasn't completely won me over. The ending was wonderful, and I really enjoyed the story, but I didn't think it was particularly amazing. Something is preventing me from giving it a 5-star review; I'm just not sure what it is. I did, however, struggle with the first half of this book since I just wasn't completely captivated by the story. However, once Ruslan got over himself and started listening to everyone, the story became much more interesting to read. From beginning to end, reading this book was an intense experience. Additionally, there were a couple of twists and turns that I wasn't expecting. Cruel Promise was such a sweet conclusion to Ruslan and Emma's duet.

"He’s not all good and he’s not all evil. He’s something in between. Superhero and flawed human all in one. And now, he’s mine. All mine. Just like I’ve been his from the start."
