The Eight Mountains by Paolo Cognetti
4.0
As a rock climber and hiker, I really appreciated how the characters’ relationships with the mountains was portrayed - it just captured such a love of the mountains.
The main character’s response to loss made me sad. I recognize that we are often taught not to experience our emotions - and aren’t taught how to deal with loss either. And I realize that men, in particular, aren’t taught how to express their love, their friendships, or their losses. And that makes me sad.
