After reading the Cold Hearted, I was assuming I'd get much of the same with an MMC that takes so long to admit his feelings. But Amos was such a breath of fresh air.

Although this has less plot and more romance than the first book, I was not at all disappointed. I loved the open and honest communication style; it was almost thrilling just to have an MMC who hid nothing from his love interest.

The dual-POV worked really well for showing how each of them were caring and considerate of the other, and I was swooning over how sweet, considerate, and unashamedly devoted Amos was, and how Tessa pushed him in just the right ways to allow him to feel more comfortable being himself.

And, let's not overlook the streamy portrayal of CNC and primal play. I don't think I've ever seen it done this well.

Although I was fine with less plot in this, as Amos is through-and-through a homebody who just wants a quiet life, I was actually a little annoyed when the plot did come into play. Suddenly, our shy, sweet, considerate MMC is a terrifying entity in the vampire community? It was just a little unnecessary.
