Ummm I still feel like I'm processing this one. I did not love it, but can appreciate somewhat what the author was trying to do with addressing a futuristic world of conflict and climate change alongside capitalism. It just really did not seem realistic though and all the characters were flat and unlikeable (to me) at least. Lily was exhausting and just superficial and immature. She wanted this lavish life into the compound, but had a naivety about it where everything would be provided for her and her having to contribute nothing. I don't think any of the characters really had any growth throughout this experience except maybe Sam. Maybe it's because I've been a lifelong Big Brother fan (I admittedly have never seen Love Island), but the BB cast really grows to love each other as a family and would not be as ruthless as the people seen here, so I had a hard time with the believability of it all. Especially the wild violent acts towards tbe end. It was entertaining I'll say that! I was glued to my audiobook.
