If Max Monroe writes it, in reading it. At least that’s the case for anything starting a year ago because they don’t miss. I’ve read some of the most hilarious books by them (Best Frenemies is my FAV), and also bawled my eyes out (What I Should’ve Said). This is the first new adult of theirs I’ve read and even after 600 pages; I NEED MORE. Absolutely obsessed with Finn Hayes. His upbringing was so shitty but he takes the role to take care of his siblings likes a champ. He’s dark and broody but secretly a golden retriever. When he meets Scottie, he’s immediately hooked but he’s so broken he doesn’t even know how to love her. His character growth is incredible and I love watching him overcome his struggles with his (multiple) new found families.
It was a nice change up in this book to give us the girl messing up and having to redeem herself, both Scottie and her mistakes as well as her mom trying to redeem her own mess ups as a mom. Typically I tend to read the guy as the bad guy and women can do no wrong so I liked this switch up.
The side characters in this book are everything. Ace and Julia (if they don’t get a book I’ll riot), Blake, Lex and even Kayla. The build up backstories was top notch to make you love them here and crave more. I can’t wait for book 2 in the series early next year.
Also, @authormaxmonroe if you could stop making me cry when I’m not prepared for it, that would be great 🤣 Thank you so much for the advanced earc, I adore this book and you both as writers. Counting down the days to the new one :) also thank you to @hambright_pr for the early access and the best content.
