The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

4.0

I couldn't decide whether to give this three or four stars. But I feel I would have to take it as a trilogy to make a better assessment.

Overall though, I did enjoy it. It was a good dramatic depiction of the characters struggles. There were times where I kind of felt "Oh, yet another obstacle". But actually on reflection, the character development and change in them was really heartening (and heartbreaking) to see unfold these two young people forced to mature very rapidly. That was done really well.

But that cliffhanger... I literally shouted "WHAT!?"

I am going to save the following two books (which I have been borrowing as ebooks from my local library and reading on my Kobo) for the winter months. I just have a feeling that reading the drama unfold in darker months will add to my enjoyment.
