Rules of the Road by Joan Bauer
4.0
I hear the book strays toward a young audience. I'm no longer a teen, but I loved it nonetheless. It's about Jenna Boller, who absolutely loves to sell shoes. Mrs. Gladstone, the president of the shoe store company asks Jenna to drive her to Texas for a conference. Now, Jenna's sixteen, I think, and she's going on a road trip with an elderly woman. You'd think this book would be really boring or back-and-forth snide comments between the young and the old. Nah, not really. It's about caring about and helping people and feeling confident in oneself. That seems to be the main message. It is strange--the passion these characters have for shoes. I mean, real passion. Their hearts are probably made of rubber and leather. And every character is either pure evil or pure good. It was actually kind of nice to read such a simple story.
