Illustrated Girl is is a fun, tender story that explores emotions and trials of the heart and soul.

The story itself is full of witty banter and strong willed characters you can't help but root for. The ease of the story telling makes the book enjoyable even with a complex magic system and puzzles you have to put together throughout. The more serious undertones help you connect with the characters and sometimes you may even see yourself in them.

I adore how realistic our FMC is, she has sass and real emotions and I can't help but see myself just a bit in her. The main character is also originally a reader and has these moments were she recognizes that she's acting more like a character in a book than herself, or mentions how much thought the author of the book she's stuck in put into the description of how the light hits the love interest, etc.

How the book is written is unique and really makes you as a reader think more deeply abut being a reader, or more about the author and the work they put into their pieces(or lack there of). Everything in this book came together so flawlessly, melding together character building, world building and the exploration of feelings and tribulations of life.

Josephine Angelini describes this book as a cozy, fun fantasy that is a perfect palate cleanser for in between more heavy or epic fantasy reads. I couldn't agree more.
