Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton

4.0

This book is highly unusual. And you know why? For once, I have no problem with the writing, or the plot. It' s just that, well, the cover, blurb and title are basically crap. List no.1.
#1. The title.
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BOOK.
#2. The cover.
Basically gave away the whole darn plot. (This is the UK cover, btw)
#3. The blurb.
This is actually the worst blurb i've ever had the displeasure to read. List no.2. (It's a list within a list! It's like listception!)
#1. It is extremely innacurate, for example '...a note from her mother with the single word 'RUN' on it." So what, she gets a note going,
Yo, Ari!
RUN
Love, mom (because we is american, man)
The note has a lot more than just a single word on it.
#2. 'But why is every creature she encounters...afraid of her?'
Problem. Most of them have no idea what she is, either. And they ain't afraid.
#3. Why, why, WHY do these publishers think it's cool to sum up MOST OF THE BOOK on the back cover? Why? It's not. I, for one want to be intruigued, not bored while reading, going: "Yeah, they covered this on the blurb, when does the story start?"

I have to say, most of the reviews I've seen of this book start off saying how bad they thought this book was going to be. (I'm doing it last. I'm such a hipster.) This is entirely the fault of the publishers, for doing such a crap job on the dust jacket.
