Aylin by Ayşe Kulin
3.0
I read this entire book thinking that what I was reading was a novel with a plotline made up out of thin air. I had no idea that it was a book based on the life of a real person: Aylin Radomisli Cates.
Wow! What a life. This woman lived five lifetimes in one. According to this book, her lifestyle and beliefs were very much outside of Turkish norms. The unanswered mystery is how and why she was so different - in a culture that places such a high value on conformity.
I think this woman's life deserves a real, researched biography with footnotes.
