Wow. What a fabulous book. I didn’t want to finish reading it and kept procrastinating so it’d last longer.
It takes place over a period of 300 years so clearly a lot of research went into it, but it doesn’t feel remotely didactic. Instead it’s a vibrant story of two people who hate each other and love each other and who are tied together forever. It’s the story of a lost and desperately lonely woman who comes to accept her loneliness just to find herself upended when her life suddenly isn’t quite the same as it always has been.
It’s clever and fascinating and beautiful and wonderfully written and I just can’t say enough good things. Go read it!
