In Nightfall

I mean, the cover art alone gets 5 stars.
Fun book. But I wish we could work on some of the old tropes that are used in storytelling. What is the point of warning people but not actually telling them what the danger is? And then being like “oh well, now you’re a vampire. Oops!” I just hate when a smidge of communication could change an entire story. If that’s how you need to build a story, you’re writing or storytelling isn’t solid. I enjoy some vagueness in building suspense and a story but if you’re all spooky about warning people and leaving protection dolls everywhere, why are they having to go through scary shit that literally puts their lives at risk and then find out the town secrets from some stranger tourists?
And I feel like they really didn’t explain how Marco was “released from the curse.” Like he literally was killed on TOP of the curse and they only discussed that killing the queen would save him but neither Olivia or Minnow were killed. Did I miss something? Just seemed like a rush through that part. Surprise! You were brought back to life! Let’s sit in the sun to test it out!
It annoys me. But overall I did enjoy the book and would probably read the author again.
