The Funny Thing about Norman Foreman by Julietta Henderson

4.0

Norman Foreman is twelve. Norman and his best friend Jax love comedy, especially the greats and have a "five year plan" which culminates in them playing a gig at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Tragedy strikes when Jax dies from an asthma attack. Norman decides to continue with the plan but that summer. On the way to Edinburgh he hopes to discover which one of his mother's one night stands is his father. So Norman, his mum Sadie embark on a trip to Edinburgh, meeting the "suspects" along the way assisted by Sadie's elderly friend Leonard in his vintage Austin car.
An emotional yet comedic journey ensues as Norman journeys to Edinburgh for the gig of his life in memory of his friend Jax.
This was a well written debut, which although emotional, gave plenty of laughs.
A great mood booster of a book.
With thanks to The Pigeonhole for the opportunity to read.
