Vineland by Thomas Pynchon
5.0

4.5 stars. Beautiful, warm, comforting Pynchon. It takes place in a land I know and love deeply. It feels like trees and family and drifting through life and trying to survive while resisting the man. In this irrational, fascist epoch I'm glad to have found it to know I'm not crazy. I mean, I'm a little crazy but we all are. Pynchon is also astute about the way TV created an image based society which is easily controlled. In the 30 years since this book was published it has only gotten worse.

Vineland makes me want to ride my bike into the forest, breathe in the musk of the trees, escape reality, and go camping for a few days. I'm gonna go soon, don't worry.
