The Frozen Dead by Bernard Minier

This is a debut novel? Definitely looking forward to reading more by this author because I really enjoyed this one! What starts as an unusual murder case (of a horse) becomes even more convoluted as other cases (human) happen that might or might not have something to do with the initial one. Add to the mix that there is a high-security asylum nearby and some pieces of evidence point to a particular inmate. How is this even possible? Is he escaping, alone or with the help of someone? This M.O. is completely different from what he was convicted for, but there is evidence of his having been on the scene for these. What's real? What's not? What really happened? Are these cases connected? It's up to Commandant Servaz to find out! He's an interesting character and I'm looking forward to getting to know him better.
