Heidi is a book about a young girl who lives on the mountains in Switzerland with her grandfather.

The book chronicles her experiences of arriving at the mountain and her friendships with the people who live there. She grows to love her home, but is tragically sent away to live with a wealthy girl, Clara, who is ill and can't walk. Clara and Heidi eventually become good friends, but Heidi becomes homesick for her old home. She goes back, and Clara comes to visit her, and is healed in the clear mountain air.

This is a wonderful classic book for children, and perfect for cozying up with on a snowy winter day. It has lovable characters and a beautifully described setting. I would absolutely recommend this to any child looking for a good book, but I think a lot of adults would love it too!
