True story. Gwen already had two cats when her vet called about a kitten who had lost his eyes to infection. She couldn't resist. Homer never let his blindness stop him. He was fearless--once scaring off a burglar. He could catch flies in mid-air and smell tuna in a sealed can--in the cupboard. When Gwen moved from Miami to NYC, her cats, including Homer, moved too. They survived 9/11, even though Gwen couldn't get to them for several days after. Scarlett, Vashti, and Homer were a team--if a reluctant one at times on the part of the other cats. Even a long-time bachelor who disliked cats wasn't immune to Homer's charms for long.

Great story and very moving. Couldn't put it down.
