I'm not quite sure what it was about this book, I listened on it via audio, and it just didn't quite hit me as hard as the other two did. It some killer moments, the ending, Hoa being Hoa. I didn't love this book, but it may have been the story that needed to be here.

Essun wasn't a good mom to Nassun, which is why Nassun needed Schaffa. She needed him and was willing to destroy the world for him, and Essun did a just thing and It felt so refreshing. I felt refreshing to read a story about a mom who fucked up. It's refreshing to see a person who made many mistakes but in the end tried to do the right thing.
