Wholehearted Faith by Rachel Held Evans

2.0

Not going to lie, I disagree with a lot of the beliefs Rachel had. But she is a gifted writer and orator. This book had me deeply thinking and analyzing what I believe, and I think I’m the better because when I disagreed with something I thought about the Word and solidified my own beliefs.

Rachel is a Christian because she was raised in the church, had a biblical name, was baptized, and was inspired by the people before her. I am not. I am a Christian because the Lord called me to his own. My background was helpful, but did not save me. My biblical name Giovanna, from Giovanni, from John, meaning God’s gift certainly inspires me but is not the reason I cling to Christ.

Read books that challenge what you believe. The Lord can use it, whether he corrects false beliefs or reminds you of the truth.
