The general concept of the story, although not original by any means, is intriguing but the execution was disappointing. There was no apparent logic to which aspects of human life made sense to the protagonist and which didn't even if it was central to the plot. It felt like the author wanted to lead the reader to a great insight about our existence but we just never arrived there. After reading the acknowledgements and learning about the inspiration for the story coming from his own experience with mental illness the lens of the story as well as certain plot points made slightly more sense. Also the female characters seemed to be written in a way to be even more one-dimensional and tropey then the male characters.
