This is a beautiful, raw and layered historical novel, focused on three sort-of siblings growing up on an estate in Dorset in the lead up to WW2. There is a slow start, with not a lot happening in the first half of the book - but I enjoyed this part still. It kicks off more when WW2 starts, but even with the slightly faster pace, the writing is still captivating. I would definitely read another book by this author.
