Cactus Country: A Boyhood Memoir
by Zoë Bossiere
A really interesting perspective from a person who has experienced girlhood, boyhood, womanhood, and falling somewhere in-between. A rare account that depicts the hardships of boyhood and the white working class without sounding like complaining about an immense amount of freedom and privilege. It's very much a desolate, slice-of-life series of essays and can be slow at times, but is certainly a unique and valuable perspective.
