Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling

4.0

This is the first book in the series where it felt like a bridge to the next one. The exposition about horcruxes felt rushed. I didn't ever really believe Snape was on one side or the other, and when he killed Dumbledore it felt like something that didn't actually happen. It's a good chapter in a great story, but for the first time the book seemed like it was relying on the larger story, rather than the other way around.
