This was a, Booktok made me do it. I thought I was missing out by not reading it. Spoiler: I was not.
I don’t understand the hype. I’m going to guess the animated cover and the spice was what fueled it. Ladies, there are better options out there. Spoilers below.

This book gives platform to a lot of serious topics. Neurodivergence (if not autism), eating disorders, anxiety are just a few of them, and this book barely scratches the surface when addressing them. I’d consider normalizing these topics a good thing, but they felt more like a plot device which then felt inauthentic and superficial.
And as far as the story goes, Aaron was not strong enough to be the antagonist. Not that I wanted more of him in the book, but he’d pop up, fuck things up, then leave. Rinse, wash, repeat until the end. Barely any back story and I’m still not sure *why* he did what he did because I’m not sold on whether he loved her or was just so fucked up and manipulative.
Nate was so sweet. His only “fault” was being told to let Stas make her own horrible choices and stfu about what he thinks because apparently it was too *stressful* for her. Newsflash: his concern was not only valid, but accurate.
Anastasia… oh girl… I’m usually for a grumpy dynamic, but it was like listening to an old married couple bicker the entire time. None of the sexual tension that usually rounds out that dynamic. She made horrible choices for no purpose other than to create unnecessary issues.
I liked the writing overall, but by 50% I was over it.
