The Architecture of Happiness by Alain de Botton
4.0
Readable and simple ideas but explained well. Like Bachelard but without all the bad qualities that makes his writing literally incomprehensible. A great examination of the mundanities of the spaces we occupy and how, and why, they matter. Some of the writing just passed over my head a lot but I'm not sure if that's a me problem or the writing gets a little bland and repetitive at times. Very Western-centric (and also, what is it with the West's obsession with Japanese architecture only?). It was an okay book.
