What a sad tale. Recommend reading through to the author’s note at the end. People are so dark and evil, and in this case, there was no justice but a lot of looking the other way - maybe because it was easier and maybe because it would cause too much heartbreaking introspection. Undoubtedly, it was probably also because it would’ve cost the government too much money in trying to mend all that was broken.
