The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

5.0

“The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart.”

The Little Prince deals with losing one's innocence and the menacing threats of growing old. It discusses adults losing their sense of individuality and becoming merely another figure driven by the thought of wealth, status and power and how to keep a grip on your childhood.

Reading this book made me realise how important it is to hold onto your youth, made me realise how much I don't want to lose myself to adulthood. At the age I'm at now, I'm young enough to still have part of my youth attached to me, but also old enough to have responsibilities such as working, driving and keeping my grades up in order to go to university. It would be irresponsible of me to ignore my duties as a 16 year old, but it can be difficult when all I want to do is to ignore it.

It takes a child with the experiences and heartache of an adult to draw bittersweet conclusions about what came of our Little Prince. We can never know for sure what came of him, but it's what you BELIEVE that matters, not the so-called truth.
