Axios: A Spartan Tale by Jaclyn Osborn

4.0

Talk about an epic love story. Spanning over 30 years, we get the love story of two Spartan warriors.

And I learned a lot about Sparta in the process. Even learned of the Sacred Band of badass fighters comprised of male couples/lovers. Even though they’re the enemy, they were kinda awesome to learn about.

Axios is strong, but he’s a dreamer and believes in humanity. Erynx is the son of a military deserter, and he’s determined to take his family legacy back. When the two meet in training they find in each other their missing piece. They’re friends by 10, and in love, for life, by teenagers.

Once the two become of age, their love convinces them that l no wife is worth separation. Something unusual at the time. They live, love and fight alongside each other through thick and thin.

They’re warriors and because of this one is primed to be wary of their longevity. But, in the end, their deaths are even epic, and in true form, together.

This was told in Axios’ POV. I know another book is from Erynx, I just don’t know if I can take it, knowing their ending. I did read the end of Erynx though and it’s perfect.
