Another fun hockey romance! I like how there was a pre-existing meet cute with Roman and Lexi. There is a prequel, which I haven’t read yet, but can say it didn’t detract from the story at all. I totally could feel the panic and excitement they both had when Lexi joined the team’s coaching staff. I like the female coach angle, which is kind of topical with Jessica Campbell and the Kraken.
The humor with flip and Connor. I can’t even. I really liked the Connor character, a good addition to the team. The misfit Christmas was pretty funny, and a good way for character development for some of the side characters who will maybe be mains in the next book???
I think I enjoyed the angsty will they/wont they vibe of the first half more than the second half once they were together. And showing how Roman went in to dad mode naturally with Lexi and her sisters definitely did something to my ovaries. No wonder she couldn’t stay away from him! Total competence kink.
Somehow the story and plot was less intriguing in the last half. But really? It doesn’t matter. It’s still a joy.
I received an advanced copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
