Timid by Devney Perry

This was quite an easy read. It was very sweet in a lot of ways but the angst in this was just spot on for me. It was stressful in parts but I just wanted it all to be okay for them.

I really liked Willa’s character - she wasn’t as much of a doormat as I expected her to be, she stood up for herself and I liked the way that she handled Jackson. Jackson wasn’t my favourite kind of character - I liked how he cared for her but I found him very frustrating in parts. They had good chemistry though - it was sweet and sexy, and it worked well with the angsty parts.

I did find some of the external plot a bit underdeveloped; the introduction of Ryder’s character was cute but it felt a bit like an afterthought. I also thought that the
Spoilermurder of Jackson’s mother
was very dark and felt very out of place. I didn’t think it worked at all.

The romance though was quite good and the book as a whole was an easy read, it was very engaging, and as a whole I had fun reading it.

Content Notes: Small town, unrequited love.
