The Reader by Bernhard Schlink

I’m not sure if it was the fact this book was shorter, or that Kate Winslet is the lead in the movie I’ve been wanting to see for some time, but I whipped through this. I have not done this with a book in a long time, so I must have enjoyed it. A few of the parts were a bit deep and pretentious, but the subject matter lended itself to that style of writing. The main theme of this book is about internal struggles, right and wrong and it focuses on this on global scale as well as personally with the two leads. I couldn’t help but see parallels in the story to numerous toxic relationships and the simplified beginning, middle and end of this story really pulled things together.
